IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- Three people are in jail after a fight lead to a gun being fired near Grant Wood Elementary in Iowa City.
Iowa City police were called to the area of Grant Wood Elementary School, 1930 Lakeside Drive, just after 12:30 p.m. Monday for a report of a man being shot.
When officers arrived, a foot chase began when several people ran from the area.
Police determined six to seven people were involved in a fight when someone pulled out a gun. Police say the person fired one shot into the ground. No one was hurt.
As a precaution, Grant Wood and Alexander Elementary Schools were asked to cancel all outside activities and make sure all doors were locked as they normally should be.
Charges are expected to be filed.
