Dubuque Unveils State-of-the-Art YMCA

DUBUQUE, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- Plans to improve and expand the current YMCA/YWCA in Dubuque are moving forward. Now the Y is releasing some of the concepts and designs for their future state-of-the-art facility.

After looking to move to another location, the YMCA decided to stay at their existing location at 35 North Booth Street.

Sharon Covey is the President and CEO of the YMCA/YWCA. She says it's exciting to see what the facility could look like.

“We are pleased to see conceptual designs of what the new facility could look like," said Covey. "We are still in the early stages of design but excited about the direction we are heading.”

Covey says the upgrade will allow them to have more space and continue to meet the needs of the community with their programming. That includes things like their Diabetes Prevention Program, Enhanced Fitness for people who suffer from arthritis and the LiveStrong Program for cancer survivors.

Look through the slide show below to see more of the designs.
