CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- Police were called to the Walmart parking lot at 3601 29th Avenue SW on November 13 at around 11 a.m.
A 20-year old victim, who was also a Walmart employee, was pistol-whipped in the parking lot after an argument.
Based on information obtained, it is believed the victim and the suspect knew each other and had a previous dispute.
The suspect vehicle was found near the Westdale Court Apartments.
Three suspects took off in the suspect vehicle, a Pontiac Grand Prix, and led officers on a vehicle pursuit until it came back to the 4400 block of 21st Avenue SW.
The suspects then ran from the car.
Officers were able to apprehend all three suspects after a foot chase around 12:15 p.m.
The suspects threw a handgun onto the playground of Harvest Christian Daycare Center at 4070 22nd Avenue SW. The handgun was recovered by officers.
Robert A. Sims, 26, of Cedar Rapids, was charged with Assault with a Weapon. Sims pulled a handgun from his waistband and hit the victim in the head with the weapon.
Delbert Antonio McNeil, 26, of Cedar Rapids, was charged with Providing False Identification Information, Interference with Official Acts, and warrants for Failure to Appear – Driving While License Under Suspension, FTA – Failure to Provide Proof of Financial Liability, Revocation of Probation – Forgery, Robbery-3rd Degree, and Eluding; Escape,
Kendale Jones, 20, of Iowa City, was charged with Interference with Official Acts and Warrant for Robbery-2nd Degree.
