U of Iowa Swimming and Diving On the Road

THE SCENE 

The University of Iowa swimming and diving teams travel to West Lafayette, Indiana, on Nov. 3 for its first road matchup of the season. The Friday night dual against Purdue is scheduled for 4 p.m. (CT). The Boilermaker women’s squad is ranked 16th in the country, while the men are ranked 23rd.

LAST TIME OUT

The Iowa mens swimming and diving team beat its first ranked opponent on Oct. 27. The Hawkeyes downed 21st-ranked Minnesota, 162-138. 

Four Hawkeyes posted multiple victories – Kenneth Mende (3), Jerzy Twarowski (3), Jack Smith (2), and Joe Myhre (2). Daniel Swanepoel, Michael Tenney, Michal Brzus, Will Scott, Will Brenner, and Anton Hoherz each posted one win. Hoherz’s 3-meter diving score of 383.50 ranks third all-time in school history.  Smith and Twarowski posted NCAA “B” qualifying times in the 50 free (20.17) and 100 fly (48.06).

Sophomore freestyler Hannah Burvill finished second in four events -- 200 free (1:48.38), 100 free (50.51), 500 free (4:53.79), and the 400-free relay (3:24.83) to lead Hawkeye women.
