Two Charged For Firing Weapons at Cars

JOHNSON COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- The Johnson County Sheriff's Office accuses two southeast Iowa men of shooting vehicles at their workplace in Lone Tree.

According to a criminal complaint, a witness saw 21-year-old Randy Mendoza of Muscatine and 20-year-old Giovanni Gomez of Columbus Junction shooting a gun in the parking lot of Syngenta Seeds on October 16.

Both men were employed at the Sygenta plant east of Lone Tree at the time of the incident.

Two vehicles sustained more than $2,000 in damage. Deputies report finding a gun in Mendoza's vehicle.

Deputies arrested both men, who are charged with second degree criminal mischief, a class D felony.

If convicted, they each face up to five years in prison and $7,500 fine.
