GymHawks Announce 2018 Schedule, Season Tickets

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- University of Iowa women’s gymnastics head coach Larissa Libby announced the 2018 schedule on Friday. The Hawkeyes are slated to host four home meets at Carver-Hawkeye Arena with contests against Ohio State, Nebraska, Ball State, and Southeast Missouri State. Nebraska and Ohio State finished the 2017 season ranked seventh and 24th, respectively. The Hawkeyes travel to face two opponents who finished in the 2017 NCAA Women's Gymnastics Rankings. They include Illinois (21) and Southern Utah (22).

Iowa concluded the 2017 season with a 25-11 overall record, a 13-5 Big Ten record, and a No. 18 national ranking. The GymHawks finished third at the Big Ten Championships with a score of 196.725, their highest score since 2015. Five GymHawks received all-conference honors. To cap off the successful season, senior Mollie Drenth became the Big Ten balance beam champion and Libby was named Big Ten Head Coach of the Year. Following the conference championships, the Hawkeyes advanced to their 13th straight postseason, placing third at the NCAA Regionals (196.050). Freshman Clair Kaji and senior Angel Metcalf tied as NCAA Regional beam champions and qualified for the NCAA National Championships.

The 2018 Hawkeyes return 14 letterwinners and welcome five new additions to the team. The GymHawks preview their season with the annual Black and Gold Intrasquad on Dec. 2 at 11 a.m. (CT) at the UI Field House. Season tickets are available at hawkeyesports.com/tickets, by calling 1-800-IA-HAWKS, or at the UI Athletics Ticket Office at the north entrance of Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Season tickets are $30 and all seating is general admission. Youth ages 18 and under and UI students receive free admission to all regular season home meets.
