Roadwork Set to Cause BIG Delays in Cedar Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- Railroad crews are replacing railroad crossing signs on two major streets on the northeast side of Cedar Rapids.

Next week, starting on October 16th, Canadian National Railroad crews will replace the crossings at Blairs Ferry Road Northeast just east of I-380. Work will take about five days.

Detour routes include: •Eastbound traffic to use the southbound interstate frontage road to the Collins Road interchange, east to Center Point Road, then north to Blairs Ferry Road. •Westbound traffic to go south on Center Point Road to Collins Road, west to the northbound interstate frontage road to Blairs Ferry Road. •Traffic is encouraged to find alternate routes.

Then, the next week Canadian National Railroad crews will replace signs on 42nd Street Northeast.

That work starts on October 23rd and should last five days.Detour routes include:•Eastbound traffic to use the northbound interstate frontage road to Collins Road interchange, east to Center Point Road and south to 42nd Street. •Westbound traffic to go north on Center Point Road to Collins Road, taking southbound interstate frontage road 42nd Street. •Traffic is encouraged to find alternate routes.
