FAYETTE COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- A Fayette County man is facing an attempted murder charge after trying to strangle his father, according to a news release.
The Fayette County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to a call around 1 p.m. Monday from Wadena near the city sewer plant. The victim sent multiple texts to his wife stating "his son was going to kill him."
Deputies arrived and arrested 36-year-old Lonnie Davis, Jr. of Clermont.
Investigators said Davis and his father were arguing while when Davis told his father he was going to kill him and dump his body in the water. Davis then tried to strangle his father, stating multiple times he was going to be dead.
The father recorded the attack, which helped in the investigation.
If convicted, Davis faces up to 25 years in prison.
