Hawkeye Men's Tennis

TULSA, Okla. -- Senior Josh Silverstein, Jake Jacoby, and Will Davies represented the University of Iowa men's tennis team on day three of the ITA All-American Championships at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Tulsa.

Seventh-seeded Silverstein got things going with a win over Adrian Ortiz of Texas 6-2, 3-6, 6-1. That was the seniors third singles win of the fall campaign.

“I played really well today. Texas has great tennis program and I am happy I got the job done,” said Silverstein. “Tomorrow is a new day and I have to keep getting better.”

The Hawkeye duo of Davies and Jacoby lost a tough three-set tiebreaker battle in the first round to Steiner and Olivarez from Western Michigan, 6-1, 4-6, 10-5.

Silverstein looks to continue his stout play against Big Ten foe Noe Khlif from Illinois Tuesday morning in the Round of 64.
