University of Iowa Women's Golf

Knoxville, TN. – The University of Iowa women's golf team is in 12th place through 36 holes at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship. Iowa carded a two-round total of 599 (+31). 

 

Seven of the eleven teams that finished ahead of Iowa are ranked in the top-50 of the Golfstat Relative Rankings.  Four of those ranked teams are in the top 30 -- No. 30 Tennessee, No. 14 Kent State, No. 29 Wake Forest, and No. 26 NC State.

 

RENNEGARBE’S CAREER DAY

Senior Shawn Rennegarbe tied her career-best 18-hole score of 72 in the first round.  In the second round, she carded a 75 to give her a career-best 36-hole score of 147 (+5).

HAWKEYES ON THE TEAM LEADERBOARD

Juniors Shawn Rennegarbe and Kristin Glesne are both tied for 35th after the first two rounds.  They each carded a 147 (+5) through 36-holes.  Senior Jessica Ip is tied 63rd after carding a 152 (+10) on day one.  Senior Elisa Suarez carded a 36-hole score of 154 (+12) which tied her for 69th.  Tied 71st is senior Morgan Kukla, she carded a two-round total of 155 (+13).

"It was not the team performance that we were hoping for today but we are looking forward to a strong final round tomorrow. We have a lot of different players playing well and doing some good things."

 

THIRD ROUND

The third round will tee off at 8:00 a.m. (CT) tomorrow with a shotgun start.
