North Liberty Woman Allegedly Strangles Child

NORTH LIBERTY, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- A North Liberty woman is facing a child endangerment charge after police said she choked a 12-year-old boy.

According to a police report, the boy called 911 about 11:45 p.m. Sunday saying he had been strangled at a residence in the 1200 block of Alexander Way.

The boy told officers he got into an argument with 41-year-old Christina Dochterman and she put both her hands around his neck and applied pressure. The boy told police it was difficult to breathe, but he was still able to. Police report the boy had a small scratch and redness on his neck.

Dochterman would not answer questions about what happened, police said, and smelled of alcohol and had slurred speech. When officers asked how much she had to drink, Dochterman replied "not enough," according to the report. Police said she refused a breath test.

Police arrested Dochterman. She was released from the Johnson County Jail Monday afternoon on $5,000 bond. If convicted she faces up to two years in prison.
