Iowa Women's Golf In Tennessee

Knoxville, Tenn. -- University of Iowa junior Kristin Glesne carded a career-best 54-hole score of 218 (+5) to lead the women’s golf team at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship on Tuesday. The Hawkeyes finished 12th overall with a three-round total of 888 (+36).

 

The Hawkeyes carded their best round of the tournament on Tuesday with a 289 (+5) -- a total that ranks ninth in program history. Iowa’s three-round 888 (+36) ties for ninth all-time.

 

No. 33 Illinois took the team title with a 54-hole total of 840 (-12). No. 14 Kent State finished second (841; -11), while host No. 30 Tennessee finished third (860 (+8). Seven of the 11 teams that finished ahead of Iowa are ranked in the top-50 of the Golfstat Relative Rankings, while four teams (No. 14 Kent State, No. 26 NC State, No. 29 Wake Forest, and No. 30 Tennessee) are ranked in the top 30.

 

GLENSE LEADS THE WAY

Glesne’s posted a career-best 54-hole total of 218 (+5; 76, 71, 71). She climbed six spots on the leaderboard in round three to tie for 29th overall, matching her highest finish as a Hawkeye (T-29; Diane Thomason Invite; Fall 2015).

 

IP UNDER PAR

Jessica Ip carded a three-under-par 68 in Tuesday’s final round, matching a career low (68; Entrada Classic; Spring 2017). It marked her second under-par round of the season. The senior jumped a tournament-leading 29 spots on the leaderboard to tie for 34th. She finished with a three-round total of 220 (+7; 77, 75, 68).
