University of Iowa Women's Tennis

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- University of Iowa senior Zoe Douglas has been voted by her teammates to serve as team captain for the Hawkeyes’ women’s tennis team in 2017-18. UI head coach Sasha Schmid made the announcement Friday.

 

Douglas, a native of Papaworth, England, won a career-high 16 singles matches last season, posting a 15-9 record at the No. 2 singles position and a 1-0 mark at the No. 1 position. She teamed with Elise van Heuvelen to post a 10-2 record at the top of the doubles lineup, reaching as high as No. 80 in the ITA national rankings.

 

Douglas was an Academic All-Big Ten honoree and recognized by the International Tennis Association for her academic prowess in 2016-17.

 

The Hawkeyes open the 2017 fall season Sept. 15 at the William and Mary Invite in Williamsburg, Virginia.
