Earlier this morning, when Kaj O'Mara and I were talking, Front Desk Sue held up her whiteboard. On it, she had written, "From the air conditioning to the furnace." After a warm and humid week, we head into Memorial Day weekend with a brief cold snap.
If you have planted tomatoes or peppers, it may not be a bad idea to cover them. These plants are tropical, and they don't like temps near 40 degrees. Last year, I hung visqueen over a frame made of tomato cages, and it worked well. Tonight, the winds might make it difficult, but whatever you do, if you use plastic, don't let it set on the plant.
From there, things warm up. I'll be smoking brisket. What about you? Send me a pic of your grilled/BBQd or smoked protein to the text line at 319-983-3498. Listen Saturday morning at 8 for The Open Line, and I'll have great grilling, smoking and BBQ tips, plus recipes for sides!
