With Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds easing additional restrictions throughout the state effective May 15, Marion community leaders are providing area businesses with a toolkit to assist in a safe, thoughtful reopening.
“While we continue to focus on keeping people safe, we must also plan ahead, understanding that COVID-19 will remain a part of our lives for some time,” said Marion Mayor Nicolas AbouAssaly. “As employers determine the best way to get back to business, we want to give them the tools for success.”
The document is available for download via the City of Marion, Marion Economic Development Corp (MEDCO) or Marion Chamber of Commerce websites.
The toolkit provides general guidance, CDC recommendations, and best practices for both employee and customer protection by sector. It aligns with recommendations put forth by other metro communities and is based on a guide developed by the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives and the Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce.
To complement the business toolkit, the Community Recovery Task Force is creating a companion guide to help residents navigate and understand the new guidance. The Task Force is also planning to launch an online community survey to assess personal impacts related to coronavirus and resident readiness as we move toward reopening.
