City of Cedar Rapids Transit Update

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – (March 16, 2020) -- City of Cedar Rapids Transit is continuing service as of March 16, 2020. In order to limit interaction between patrons and drivers, fares will not be collected. Passengers are asked to limit capacity per bus to encourage distance between passengers, and to maintain 6 foot distances on buses and at bus stops. Standing on buses will not be allowed.

There will be no congregating allowed at the Ground Transportation Center, and the building will only be open for passengers actively transferring between routes.

Hand sanitizer will be available on every bus, and buses are being sanitized regularly.

Cedar Rapids residents, especially senior citizens and those with underlying health conditions, are asked to avoid attending events and large gatherings.

To protect your health and the health of others, the Iowa Department of Public Health recommends:

·Avoid large gatherings, limit the number of attendees per gathering.

·Cancel extracurricular activities.

·Individuals 60 years of age and older with underlying conditions should stay at home and avoid gatherings or other situations of potential exposures, including travel to affected areas.

·Consider working remotely or online learning when possible.
