At approximately 5:59 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2019, Iowa City Police Officers responded to Hawkeye Convenience Store, 2875 Commerce Drive, for a report of an armed robbery.
According to the victim, a suspect wearing dark clothing and a mask entered the store, displayed a handgun while demanding money, and fled in the victim’s vehicle. The stolen vehicle was later located abandoned a short distance away on Sioux Avenue SE. The victim did not receive any physical injuries.
The suspect was described as a large black male, approximately 6 feet tall, and possibly having tattoos on his neck. No arrests have been made.
Iowa City Area Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information about this crime that leads to an arrest.
