The National Weather Service has issued an EXCESSIVE HEAT WATCH for the ENTIRE STATE OF IOWA for Wednesday through Saturday night.
Temperatures will be as high as 100 degrees and heat indices as high as 110+.
Please make sure you're checking on the elderly and sick in and around your neighborhoods. Don't just assume that someone else will do so.
Make sure younger kids are watched over, as well, as their bodies' ability to cool isn't as advanced as ours as adults.
Make sure your pets are taken care of in this weather. Plenty of water, plenty of shade and access to indoors, if need be.
Finally, make sure that when you have children or pets with you in the car, that you do not shut either of them in the vehicle with no air conditioning. Doing this can be fatal!
