KCRG-TV9 reports Democrat Kayla Koether could find out this afternoon if 30 ballots with change the midterm election results in one Iowa House district.
Koether ran for House District 55 in northeast Iowa last year. After a recount, she lost the race by only nine votes. But a post office scan later determined there were 29 absentee ballots not counted, even though voters sent them in on time.
A house committee first met Monday to start debating over whether or not those votes should count.
In a statement, Koether said it's important that "voter rights are preserved in Iowa and faith in our elections is preserved."
The House committee will vote sometime after the meeting Wednesday.
