USPS: Time is running out for delivery

The United States Postal Service is reminding customers that time is nearly out for packages to be delivered before the Christmas holiday, encouraging users to "wrap" up their shipping plans.

The suggested deadline for likely delivery before Dec. 25 for Priority and first-class mail shipments is Thursday, Dec. 20. Those that wait longer will have to rely on the costlier Priority Mail Express service, which has a suggested deadline of Saturday, Dec. 22.

The agency said that it expects to delivery a total of over 900 million packages in the post-Thanksgiving holiday period this year, which would be a 10 percent increase over last year. Carriers will be making extra deliveries on Sunday this year to help meet demand.
