Iowa farmers nearly done with Harvest 2018

Iowa farmers had a cold five days good for fieldwork last week according to the Iowa Crop Progress report.

More than 91 percent of the state's corn for grain is harvested, four days behind the average. Northwest and North Central Iowa farmers are nearly all wrapped up while farmers in the Southwest have 22 percent left to complete. The moisture content of field corn is averaging 16 percent.

The soybean harvest is about done, 97 percent complete on average with South Iowa averaging about 90 percent complete.

Feedlots and pastures have begun freezing with some areas reporting frost three inches into the soil. The cold weather is causing some livestock stress.
