Construction Workers Find Gun in IC

IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- Construction workers have found a gun that could be the one used to kill a Johnson County bail bondsman last year. Now prosecutors want to push back the trial of Curtis Jones, the man accused in the killing.

Jones is facing a first degree murder charge in the death of Jonathan Wieseler in April of last year.

Construction workers found a hand gun last Friday. Court documents say it has rust because it appears to have been in that area for a while. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations says the bullet fired at Wiesler could have come from the one the construction workers found.

Court documents say five bullets were fired at Wiesler. The gun found can hold seven bullets and was missing five.

The court didn't rule on the prosecution's motion to move back the trial which is set to start on September 28.

Jones is also facing a murder charge for the death of cab driver, Ricky Lillie, in June of last year. That trial is scheduled to start in November.
