IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa men's tennis doubles team of Jonas Larsen and Kareem Allaf are ranked 35th in the preseason ITA national rankings released on Tuesday. Larsen, a senior, and Allaf, a junior, are the fourth-highest ranked pair in the Big Ten.
Larsen and Allaf won 17 matches playing together at No. 1 doubles in 2017-18, including winning nine of its last 11 matches. The Hawkeye duo won four matches over ranked opponents a year ago, including the 17th-ranked team from Dartmouth.
Larsen and Allaf’s national ranking of 35 is the highest by an Iowa doubles team since Matt Hagan and Dominic Patrick were ranked No. 31 on January, 2015. The last time an Iowa tandem was ranked this high in the preseason rankings was 2011, when Marc Bruche and Will Vasos were ranked 41st.
Iowa opens fall individual competition, Sept. 20-23, at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic.
