Authorities in McGregor are recommending residents boil water before using it for drinking or cooking, or use bottled water.
McGregor Municipal Utilities had a water main break Monday and the system lost pressure, according to a news release. Officials said the loss of pressure could have led to bacterial contamination.
Water may be used without boiling for other purposes like bathing, but it should not be used without boiling first for brushing teeth, making ice, food preparation, or drinking until further notice.
