3 Hawkeyes Qualify for '18 U.S. Gymnastics Champs

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Three members of the University of Iowa men's gymnastics team -- Jake Brodarzon, Bennet Huang, and Evan Davis -- have qualified for the 2018 U.S. Gymnastics Championships. Brodarzon and Huang each qualified for the senior division, while incoming freshman Davis qualified for the junior division.

Rising sophomore, Huang qualified for the 2018 U.S. Gymnastics Championships after finishing 12th in the all-around at the 2018 NCAA Championships (80.298). At the National Qualifier on July 12-15, Huang finished fourth overall in the all-around, tallying a score of 80.3. He finished fifth on pommel horse, tied for seventh on floor, eighth on high bar, ninth on rings, tied for 13th on vault and 16th on parallel bars.

Hawkeye senior, Brodarzon, joined Huang in qualifying by placing ninth overall in the all-around at the National Qualifier with a score of 76.45. Brodarzon placed eighth on rings, tied for 10th on high bars, 11th on parallel bars, 17th on vault, 20th on floor and 30th on pommel horse.

A native of Houston, Texas, Evan Davis qualified for the junior division after placing first in the all-around at the 2018 U.S. Men's Junior Olympic Championships on May 13. Davis tallied a score of 139.200.Huang, Brodarzon, and Davis will compete in the 2018 U.S. Gymnastics Championships in Boston on Aug 16-19.
