Milan, Illinois – Iowa PGA Member Sean McCarty from Brown Deer Golf Club qualified for the John Deere Classic after finishing T2 at the John Deere Open Qualifier at the Pinnacle Country Club on July 9. McCarty will join Chad Proehl, the 2017 Iowa PGA Section Champion, at the John Deere Classic on Thursday in Silvis, Illinois.
McCarty carded a 7-under-par 65 to finish T2. His round was highlighted by five birdies, including two-in-a-row on Nos. 17-18, and an eagle on the par-5 11th hole.
McCarty participated in the PGA Professional Championship at the Bayonet and Black Horse Golf Course in Seaside, California in June where he finished T2, and qualified for the 100th PGA Championship. In addition to these events, McCarty has won four Iowa PGA tournaments this season.
Brian Bullington, Vince India and Manav Shah rounded out the four players to qualify for the John Deere Classic. Bullington claimed first place with a 9-under-par 63. India was T2, carding a 7-over-par 65, and Shah took fourth place with a 6-under-par 66. Click here for full results.
The John Deere Classic begins Thursday, July 12 at the Tournament Players Club (TPC) Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois. This year marks the 48th playing of the John Deere Classic.
