PROSPER, Minnesota (KCRG-TV9) -- A Decorah motorcyclist is dead after he collided with a horse around 11:30 Friday morning near the Iowa/Minnesota state line, according to Minnesota State Patrol.
In a crash report, Sgt. Troy Christianson said Timothy Holt, 60, Decorah, was headed east on a rural stretch of Highway 44, east of Prosper near milepost 31.
"A horse... which had been grazing in the south ditch broke free of its chain then entered the highway," said Sgt. Christianson. "Harley Davidson operator braked and swerved to avoid impact but was unable to."
Sgt. Christianson said the collision occurred in the eastbound lane.
The horse belonged to 42-year-old Levi Yoder of Mabel, Minnesota. Authorities didn't list the condition of the animal after the collision.
Sgt. Christianson's report noted that Holt had not been wearing a helmet.
