THIS WEEK:
The Hawkeyes will play at No. 12 Michigan on Saturday at 11 a.m. (CT) and Michigan State on Sunday at 11 a.m. (CT) in their last two regular season matches. Saturday will be Iowa’s 11th match against a ranked opponent this season.
LAST WEEKEND RECAP:
• Iowa was edged by No. 48 Indiana, 4-3, suffering their fifth loss to a ranked opponent by a one-point margin this season.
• The Hawkeyes defeated Purdue, 4-3, on ‘Senior Day’ to give Iowa its third Big Ten victory.
#12 MICHIGAN PREVIEW:
• The Wolverines enter Saturday’s match with a 17-4 overall record and a 6-2 mark in the league. Michigan boasts a 9-1 record in Ann Arbor.
• Michigan has a ranked doubles pair, No. 13 Knight/Hua. Knight and Hua are also ranked nationally in singles, No. 12 and 44, respectively.
• Michigan has won 53 of the 60 all-time meetings against the Hawkeyes. Iowa last beat the Wolverines in 2015 in Iowa City by the score of 4-3.
MICHIGAN STATE PREVIEW:
• The Spartans enters Sunday’s match with a 8-16 overall record will host Nebraska on Saturday in East Lansing, Michigan.
• Michigan State has lost six of its last seven matches, recording a win over Purdue (4-3) at home on March 31.
• The Hawkeyes lead the all-time series over the Spartans, 33-32. Iowa shutout Michigan State last year in Iowa City, 4-0.
HAWKEYE NOTEABLES:
• Kareem Allaf and Joe Tyler lead the Hawkeyes with five Big Ten wins. Allaf has won six consecutive singles matches, four of which have come against conference opponents.
• Iowa is 12-5 at the Hawkeye Tennis & Recreation Complex this season.
• Iowa has won five of its eight matches during the month of April.
• Jake Jacoby is alone in eighth place in career doubles victories at Iowa with 59.
• Freshman Will Davies ranks fourth in Iowa history in single-season doubles wins (21).
• From 2015-18, Iowa has won a total of 54 over a four-year span, that is tied for ninth most in program history.
• Will Davies and Piotr Smietana have won 16 of their last 20 doubles decisions.
STARTING MATCHES STRONG:
Iowa has earned the doubles point in 20 matches this season. Jonas Larsen and Kareem Allaf are 14-7 on court one in doubles, registering a team-best four victories over ranked opponents this season.
HEAD COACH ROSS WILSON:
Ross Wilson, a former two-time NCAA All-American and three-time ITA national doubles champion at Ohio State, is in his fourth season as head coach and fifth year with the Iowa men’s tennis program.
