The Iowa City Fire Department fought a basement early this morning at 2251 Russell Drive.
Crews got to the fire around 1:50 a.m. and saw smoke and flames at the single-family ranch style house.
The fire was contained to the basement and put out within 23 minutes after firefighters arrived on scene.
No one was hurt and all had evacuated before the fire department arrived.
