Hawkeyes Host Grand View in Midweek Matchup

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa baseball team hosts Grand View on Wednesday at Duane Banks Field. First pitch is scheduled for 3:05 p.m. (CT).

 

The Hawkeyes won 2-of-3 games last weekend against 22nd-ranked Illinois to improve to 16-9 overall and 3-2 in Big Ten play. It was Iowa’s first road series win over a ranked opponent since 2015 when it took 2-of-3 games at No. 16 Maryland.

 

Senior Tyler Cropley leads the team with a .356 batting average with 24 RBIs. The McCook Lake, South Dakota, native has 10 doubles and three home runs this season coming off of 32 hits.

 

The Vikings bring a 12-14 record to Iowa City after splitting two games against Missouri Valley College on March 31. Grand View has four players batting over .300, led by senior Damon Nuss, who is hitting .354 and leads with 16 runs.

 

Iowa owns a 29-8 lead in the all-time series over Grand View. The Hawkeyes last met the Vikings in 2017, where Iowa won, 6-5, in Iowa City.

 

Wednesday’s game will be streamed on BTN Plus on BTN2Go. The game will also be broadcast on the Hawkeye Radio Network and will be available on Hawkeye All-Access with Zach Mackey on the call.

 

Following the midweek matchup, the Hawkeyes continue Big Ten Conference play hosting Ohio State for a three-game series. Saturday’s series opener is set for 2 p.m. (CT).
