IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa baseball team concludes its eight-game home stand hosting Bradley on Wednesday at Duane Banks Field. First pitch is scheduled for 4:05 p.m. (CT).
The Hawkeyes enter the midweek matchup following a two-game split against 11th-ranked Indiana in the Big Ten Conference opener. Iowa fell, 4-2, before taking game two, 5-1 on March 23. Sunday’s series finale was cancelled due to inclement weather.
Junior Robert Neustrom leads the team with a .346 batting average -- 11th in the Big Ten. The Sioux City, Iowa, native has four home runs on the season and nine RBIs.
Bradley brings a 12-5 record to Iowa City coming off a 16-1 win against Chicago State last week. The Braves have eight players hitting over .300, led by junior Luke Mangieri, who is hitting .379 with nine RBIs on the season.
Bradley will send right-hander Mitch Janssen. The junior is 1-0 with an 8.10 ERA in six appearances. He has allowed 16 runs on 20 hits in 16 2/3 innings of work. Iowa will counter with freshman Trenton Wallace, who is 1-0 with a 4.26 ERA in six appearances (two starts). It is expected to be a “staff day” for the Hawkeyes.
Iowa owns a 43-41-2 lead in the all-time series over Bradley. The Hawkeyes defeated the Braves, 12-1, in Iowa City in 2017, before falling, 6-4, in Peoria.
Wednesday’s game will be streamed live on BTN Plus/BTN2Go. The game will also be broadcast across the Hawkeye Radio Network and will be available on Hawkeye All-Access with Zach Mackey on the call.
Following the midweek matchup, the Hawkeyes travel to Champaign, Illinois for a three-game series against No. 25 Illinois. Friday’s series opener is set for 6 p.m. (CT).
