Only ONE Small Snow Chance In Next Week

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) - Snow is usually less frequent in March as milder weather becomes more common. That’ll be our weather situation over the next week. We still have another chilly night ahead as lows fall into the teens Thursday night. It’ll be coldest in northeastern Iowa where there’s a bit more snow on the ground.

Looking ahead to the weekend, a low pressure system is still on track to pass far to our south. A piece of energy coming in behind it Saturday night into early Sunday morning does come across the Midwest, and brings with it a chance of light snow. Its track is trending a little farther west, and since it’ll be battling some dry northeasterly winds, there’s growing confidence that it won’t affect us much.

If snow does fall, accumulations look quite light, and most of the activity should happen to our west. The timing also suggests that it may be past us pretty early on Sunday, and even those who do get snow will be dry a majority of the day. As always, we’ll continue to adjust the forecast based on the latest trends.

In the second half of next week, temperatures will warm into the 50s, and 60 or better is possible by the end of the week.
