While there appears to be a thawing of relations between North and South Korea, the communist nation’s relationship with the Trump administration remains cold as ice; with Vice President Mike Pence refusing to acknowledge the brutal dictator’s delegation at the Winter Games’ opening ceremony.
Kim Jong Un’s sister, Kim Yo Joung, was warmly received by South Korea’s president at the opening of the international competition but wasn’t acknowledged by any member of the American delegation, who were seated just seats away from the representatives from North Korea.
According to Fox News, Kim’s sister was the first member of the Hermit Kingdom’s dynasty to visit South Korea since war erupted on the peninsula in 1950.
Earlier that day, Pence attended a VIP reception hosted by the South Korean government, greeting every world leader except Kim Yong Nam, the official Head of State of the North Korean regime.
The Vice President took questions from journalists while departing to the region this week, saying he had no plans to meet with any North Korean officials, but added that high-level dialogues could take place.
“We’ll see what happens,” Pence told the reporters.
