Two of the four detainees who escaped from the Delaney Hall detention center in Newark, New Jersey, have been recaptured, according to FBI officials. The escape occurred last week when the detainees broke through an interior wall leading to an exterior wall and fled through a parking lot. Joel Enrique Sandoval-Lopez and Joan Sebastian Castaneda-Lozada are now back in custody, while Franklin Norberto Bautista-Reyes and Andres Felipe Pineda-Mogollon remain at large.

All four men were in the country illegally and had previous charges by local police in New Jersey and New York City. Sandoval-Lopez, from Honduras, faced charges of unlawful possession of a handgun and aggravated assault. Castaneda-Lozada, from Colombia, was charged with burglary, theft, and conspiracy. Bautista-Reyes, also from Honduras, was charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, and a weapon crime. Pineda-Mogollon, from Colombia, was charged with minor larceny and burglary.

The FBI is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of each of the remaining fugitives. The escape has drawn attention to the Delaney Hall facility, which has been a point of contention between Democratic officials and the Trump administration. Newark Mayor Ras Baraka cited reports of a possible uprising at the facility during the escape, though the GEO Group, which operates the center, stated there was "no widespread unrest."
