Recently, the city of Cedar Rapids announced that the Noelridge Aquatic Center will open for general attendance this Saturday, June 18. IN a release, they say, "It will be the fifth outdoor pool in Cedar Rapids open for summer swimming." Although the pool would probably have been full through the recent heat wave, the pool had been closed for repairs.
The city said, "(O)pening prior to the 18th is not possible due to completion of the repair and necessary staff training. All other pools are operational and able to accommodate increased attendance. Splash pads are also available at Cedar Valley Park, Cleveland Park, Daniels Park, Greene Square, Hayes Park, Hidder Park, Jacolyn Park, Noelridge Park, Redmond Park, Time Check Park and Twin Pines Park. Ellis Pool will return to normal operating hours on June 24. Find pool schedules at https://bit.ly/CRpools."
One worry the City of Cedar Rapids, and, frankly everyone else, have had is staffing issues as far as lifeguards and, front desk and concessions. Having worked with the folks in the pools/aquatic area, I know that safety and security is always at the forefront of their mind, and they wouldn't open pools if they weren't ready! Enjoy and stay cool!
