A Federal judge in Texas has ruled that it is unconstitutional for America's military draft to be a men only one.
No one should be shocked because under President Obama in 2015, the ban on women being allowed in combat roles was lifted. And the ruling from U.S. District Judge Gray Miller says although historical restrictions on women serving in combat "justified past discrimination," men and women are now equally able to fight and so those days were gone.
The case was brought by the National Coalition For Men on behalf of two men who complained that a male-only draft was unfair.
Men who fail to register with the Selective Service System at their 18th birthday or new immigrants like I was, can be denied public benefits such as federal employment and student loans. Women cannot register for Selective Service.
