Britain bans puppy and kitten sales by pet stores. Should we do the same?

We all know of the terrible conditions in Puppy Mills. Well now the land of my birth - Britain - has banned pet stores from selling puppies and kittens.

"This will mean that anyone looking to buy or adopt a puppy or kitten under six months must either deal directly with the breeder or with an animal re-homing centre," the Department of Environment Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) said as part of its Christmas animal welfare push.

The new law will be known as Lucy's Law in honor of a King Charles Spaniel who was rescued in 2013 having spent her entire life in a cage.

Now the only place Brits will be able to get puppies or kittens will be directly from a breeder or from a shelter.

So should we follow this example?
