To celebrate National Weatherperson's Day tomorrow, National Today asked 1,000 Americans to share their perceptions of meteorology and their local weatherpeople.

According to the survey, 41% of Americans regularly watch weather forecasts on TV, while 14% of Americans watch TV exclusively for the weather.

Twenty-one percent of Americans know their local weatherperson's name off the top of their head.

28% percent of Americans trust their local weatherperson, while 20% think it would be cool to be a weatherperson. But surprisingly, only 8% of Americans would actually like to hang out with their local meteorologist.

The majority of Americans know meteorology is a tough job. An overwhelming 94% think being a weatherperson is not a glamorous occupation, while 89% think meteorologists don't make a lot of money."
