(Iowa) -- A new study finds reports of vandalism and property damage are falling in Iowa.
Insurance comparison website iSelect looked at the number of reported incidents between January and April of this year compared to the same period of time last year. The study finds there were 3,764 reports of vandalism or property damage in Iowa from January-April of 2025, compared to 3,185 reports from January-April of this year. That's a drop of 15% year-over-year.
While reported incidents of vandalism and property damage are falling across Iowa, the study also identified the top 20 most vandalized cities in Iowa. Those rankings include:

- Dubuque
- Mason City
- Iowa City
- Fort Dodge
- Council Bluffs
- Ottumwa
- Clinton
- Ames
- Ankeny
- Burlington
- West Des Moines
- Marshalltown
- Fort Madison
- Bettendorf
- Muscatine
Falling trends of vandalism and property damage in Iowa mirror national trends, with reported vandalism down in nearly every U.S. state. FBI data show there hare been over 10 million reported acts of vandalism and property damage nationwide since 2021.
