(Iowa) -- Iowa is one of 19 states that will receive reimbursements from a multi-million dollar settlement.
The Iowa Attorney General's office says the settlement with GS Labs resolves accusations that the company failed to deliver COVID-19 test results in the promised three day time period and overcharged patients with insurance. The states involved in the settlement claim promised COVID-19 test results within three days, though patients often had to wait a week or longer to receive their test results. The company is also accused of inflating what is called "cash prices," to overcharge patients with insurance. This, after the company advertised that patients with insurance would have no out-of-pocket costs.
Under the settlement, GS Labs will pay $3,628,718.24 to the the 19 states involved, with $491,654.75 in reimbursements available to Iowans. That includes $430,314.25 for Iowans charged administrative fees, $59,589 for Iowans who were overcharged for tests while paying in cash, and $1,517.50 for Iowans who failed to receive their test results within three days.

An online verification process will be required to determine eligibility and receive settlement payments.
