(Iowa) -- Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds signs an executive order establishing the Office of Outdoor Recreation.
The new office will be an extension of the Iowa Tourism Office, which is a division of the Iowa Economic Development Authority, and designed to support and expand outdoor recreation in Iowa. Executive Order 19 also creates a structure for public and private stakeholders investing in outdoor recreation to partner together.
Reynolds signed the executive order at an event at Lake Ahquabi State Park near Indianola. At the event, Governor Reynolds said outdoor recreation in Iowa adds nearly $6 billion dollars to Iowa's economy each year and employs nearly 50,000 Iowans statewide.
