(Des Moines, IA) -- This year's Iowa State Fair Poll conducted by the Secretary of State's Office asks fair goers to vote for their favorite thing about the Iowa State Fair.

Early results finds "Food" is leading, with 35% of the vote followed by "People Watching" with 23-percent of the vote. Visitors to the Iowa Secretary of State's booth in the Varied Industries Building can cast ballots now through the final day of the Iowa State Fair, August 21st.

Secretary Paul Pate as of today (Tuesday) more than 1,400 people have stopped by to cast ballots for their fair favorites, as well make their political picks for the U.S. Senate race, U.S. House races, and the Governor's race. The poll is unscientific.

“The State Fair Straw Poll is a fun way to get a snapshot of what Iowans want to see in the general election,” Secretary Pate said. “Historically, this Straw Poll has been a pretty accurate indicator of the way races play out, so I’m interested to see the final results at the end of the fair.”

Real time results are available on the Iowa Secretary of State’s website, sos.iowa.gov/strawpoll. All results are unscientific and intended for entertainment purposes only.
