Iowa State Patrol Ready for Memorial Day Weekend

(Des Moines, IA) -- The Iowa State Patrol is joining local law enforcement agencies for a special traffic enforcement project this Memorial Day weekend. Iowa State Patrol Sergeant Alex Dinkla says officers are watching out for people not wearing a seatbelt, driving impaired, distracted driving, and people driving at excessive speeds. He says nearly 50 percent of people who've died in traffic crashes so far this year weren't wearing seat belts. The special Memorial Day weekend traffic enforcement project starts Friday and runs through Monday night.
