MILAN, Illinois -- A man's dead after being hit by a vehicle early Wednesday morning near a Quad Cities area John Deere facility.
Milan, Illinois police say it happened just after 6:00 a.m. as the man was crossing Rock Island Milan Parkway and Deere Drive near the John Deere Parts Distribution Center.
The United Auto Workers union says the 56-year-old man was hit while walking to the picket line.
They say he's a member of Milan Local 79 and worked at the facility for 15 years.
UAW members have been striking John Deere facilities in Iowa, Illinois, Kansas for the last two weeks
