(Des Moines, IA) -- Forecasters are getting some clues about the upcoming Iowa winter. The National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration's winter outlook calls for normal temperatures. Some areas, however, could get more rain and/or snow than others. Kenny Podrazik with the National Weather Service's Des Moines office tells WHO Radio News that "we're looking at the eastern third of the state...having a slight lean toward being above normal precipitation".

He says NOAA's report is based on decades of weather records and the La Nina and El Nino patterns.
