(Undated) -- Iowa is the top state in the nation producing renewable energy. The American Clean Power Association reports nearly 60% of Iowa's electricity was generated by wind turbines and solar in 2020. Kansas is in second place with nearly 45% of its electricity being produced by wind turbines. Oklahoma comes in third place. Solar was the second largest source of electricity in California and Nevada.
