Murder Trial for Anamosa State Penitentiary Inmate Delayed

(Anamosa, Iowa) -- The trial for one of two inmates accused of murdering two Anamosa State Penitentiary workers is being delayed.

On Thursday, a judge accepted Michael Dutcher's waiver of his right to a speedy trial. Dutcher's trial was scheduled to begin on Tuesday of next week, but a new date for the trial will now be set later.

Dutcher and Thomas Woodard are accused of murdering a correctional officer and a nurse with hammers during a failed escape attempt in March of this year.
