Iowa Police Officers Keep Lonely Elderly Man Company On Valentines Day

Two police officers in Milford, Iowa, made a special Valentine's Day visit after receiving a 911 call from an elderly man.

When officers arrived at his home in northwest Iowa, the man explained he was lonely and wanted someone to talk to. So, the two officers pulled up chairs and said they would keep him company.

In a Facebook post the Milford Police Department said "This career isn't about making arrests, giving people tickets, it's about helping others out in their time of need."

The department also indicated that the man is very much loved and has family that are involved with his everyday life.

"We would like to commend Officer Verner and Officer Wolff for going above and beyond and doing what they did. These are the little things that our officers do every day and they will continue to do. Community Policing is key to law enforcement having a good relationship with the citizens of their communities."

The department's Facebook post also encouraged everyone to go out in their communities and pay it forward.
