WWII Remains return to Iowa 77 years later

BLAIRSTOWN, Iowa - The remains of a Benton County soldier who served in World War II are returning to Iowa after 77 years.

Private Laurel Ebert was 27 when he was last seen on Nov. 26, 1942.

His remains were found and interred in 1943 with identification happening just this year.

There will be a graveside service at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Blairstown Friday morning with full military honors.
