I-35/Hwy. 30 flyover bridge at opening delayed by rain

AMES, Iowa -- The Iowa Department of Transportation says the opening of the flyover bridge connecting northbound I-35 with westbound Highway 30 near Ames will be delayed by at least a day.

The DOT had hoped to open the $23 million bridge on Wednesday, but rainy weather has stalled the painting of lane lines and other markings, which requires dry pavement.

It's hoped the bridge will now be open my Thursday morning's commute.

The flyover bridge project was delayed almost a year when it was discovered that the piers holding up it's deck were built incorrectly.
